Local sports. Local stories. From the sideline.
Midnight Horizons: Sports is an independent sports media outlet dedicated to covering the athletes, teams and communities that make sports matter across New Mexico.
Based in southern New Mexico, our coverage begins at the local level, with an emphasis on high school athletics and the stories that can too easily go overlooked. From Friday night football and district rivalries to standout performances, postseason runs and the moments surrounding the game, Midnight Horizons: Sports aims to document more than the final score.
Our coverage combines sports journalism and professional photography to tell the complete story of a game. That means reporting on what happened, highlighting the athletes who made an impact and capturing the moments that define competition—from the opening whistle to the final play.
Midnight Horizons: Sports was created by photographer and journalist Eli K Whitney as part of Midnight Horizons Media, LLC. What began through sports photography is being built into an independent platform for original reporting, game coverage, photojournalism and, eventually, broader multimedia sports coverage.
Our Coverage

Our Mission
Our mission is simple: show up, document the game and tell the story well.
Local athletes deserve coverage that treats their accomplishments with the same care and professionalism found at higher levels of competition. Midnight Horizons: Sports exists to provide that coverage while creating a lasting visual and written record of the teams, athletes and communities we cover.
